« I really love making jewelry from materials that already have a story. I’m constantly looking for small, forgotten objects that have come from the ground. Rocks, crystals, old pottery and silverware are a few of my favorite found objects. »

When she arrives in medieval Noyers in Burgundy to do a residency this spring, the adventurous Alyssa Polizzi of Colorado’s Spelunk Jewelry hopes to find unexpected creative material in the geology, geography, and history of this storied part of France. Running a Kickstarter campaign to help cover her costs, the young maker’s earthy, hand-hewn Colorado-inspired creations include rings made from antique drawer pulls and earrings textured by Colorado railway tie. We are as curious as she is to see what she will discover in the pastoral landscape around Noyers sur Serein.
