Kubra Khademi was born in 1989 in Mashhad, Iran, where her family had emigrated from Afghanistan. In 1998 Khademi’s family emigrated once again, moving to Pakistan. Kubra completed her A-Levels in 2007, and in 2008 she moved to Afghanistan to pursue her higher education. While studying at Kabul University  in the Faculty of Fine Arts, the university offered her a UMISSA (BFA scholarship). In 2009 she entered the Beaconhouse National University in Lahore, Pakistan. Khademi discovered herself in performance art, and she completed her BFA in 2013. Subsequently she was in Kabul, working as a set/costume designer and overseeing script continuity on several feature films. Khademi also focused on her own art practice, with several exhibitions taking place in Kabul. Due to a controversial performance piece she presented in February 2015, she was exiled from the country. She is now based in Paris, France. Khademi was an artist in residence at La Porte Peinte in May and June 2015. During the residency, she completed new work, a video entitled Eternal Trial.
